park4night and Camperada: two different tools
park4night answers “Where can I stay here?”, Camperada “What does the trip look like?”. If you decide a lot on the road, you travel better with both than with one.
Whoever searches for an alternative to park4night is usually looking for one of two things: either another site database, or something that plans the trip to get there. For the first case, Camperada is the wrong answer. For the second, it is exactly the missing piece.
Two tools, two questions
park4night answers the question "Where can I stay here?", and it answers it with a database of several hundred thousand entries, maintained, photographed and reviewed by an active community. That volume of lived experience is, in our view, the app’s real value, and open map data does not catch up with it.
Camperada answers the question "What does the trip look like?": which route is drivable with your vehicle, how it spreads across days, what it costs in fuel and tolls, and how it gets onto the sat nav. Sites play a role, but as part of the route, not as a collection.
Side by side
| Question | park4night | Camperada |
|---|---|---|
| Orientation | Site-centred. The map shows what is nearby, with photos and community reviews. | Route-centred. The map shows a trip, with sites, costs and travel days attached. |
| Site database | Very large, over 400,000 places worldwide according to the provider, with photos and reviews. Clearly ahead here, in our view. | Campsites and stopovers from OpenStreetMap with facilities and address, without photos and without reviews. |
| Vehicle dimensions | Details on sites, such as permitted lengths. No route calculation against height and weight limits. | Height, width, length and weight feed into the route calculation; the route is additionally checked for restrictions. |
| Trips across several days | Several stops can be combined into a route; park4night+ shows sites and services along your own route. | Driving time, nights per stop and a departure date produce a trip plan with calendar days and nights on the way, including the site search for those nights. |
| Costs | Not part of the offering. | Fuel costs with refuelling stops, plus vignettes and distance tolls of the countries crossed. |
| On the road without signal | Offline maps included in park4night+. | No offline use; a connection is required. |
| Price | Basic use free, park4night+ €9.99 per year according to the provider. | Entirely free, no ad banners; labelled partner links to camping.info, Eurocampings and PiNCAMP. |

When park4night is the better choice
If you travel spontaneously and decide in the evening where to stay, a large, photographed site database with an offline map is exactly the right tool, and Camperada would be effort without reward. For wild camping and spots away from official sites, too, the community is unbeatable, because such places rarely appear in open map data.
When Camperada belongs alongside
As soon as the trip is meant to stand beforehand, the picture flips: a two-week tour through Italy with a 3.20-metre-tall vehicle, with stages that have to be feasible, tolls you want to know in advance, and a route that should reach the sat nav. That is hard to plan in a site app.
The most honest recommendation is therefore not a decision but a division: build the trip at home, ask the community on the road, because reviews and photos are simply better there than in open map data. What Camperada itself shows in sites is under campsites along your route.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Camperada a replacement for park4night?
- Only partly. park4night is a site database with a very large community and hundreds of thousands of entries including photos and reviews. Camperada is a route planner with vehicle dimensions, stages and costs. If you need both, use both.
- What does park4night cost?
- Basic use with sites, reviews and photos is free. park4night+ costs, according to the provider, €9.99 per year and brings offline maps, extended filters and no advertising, among other things. Camperada is entirely free and shows no ad banners; for sites that camping.info, Eurocampings or PiNCAMP lists as bookable there is a partner link labelled as an advertisement.
- Does park4night respect my motorhome’s dimensions on the route?
- park4night carries details on sites, such as permitted vehicle lengths, and plans routes across several stops. A route calculation that checks your height, width and weight against road restrictions is not part of the app’s core.
- Can I bring sites from park4night into Camperada?
- Not automatically, the datasets are separate. But you can set a site found there as a stop in Camperada via the place search or a click on the map, and align the route to it.
Comparing for yourself is the most honest way
Camperada needs neither sign-up nor installation. Entering two stops is enough to see whether it fits the way you travel.
