Camperada

A motorhome route planner for the whole trip.

A motorhome tour is more than a route. Camperada plans with your vehicle dimensions, finds campsites along the way and turns kilometres into travel days with nights, fuel and tolls. Free, no account.

Why a car route planner is not enough for a motorhome

Your dimensions are not up for debate
A car route planner sends you through every underpass. At 3.20 m in height that is not an inconvenience, it is damage to the body.
The day ends somewhere
A motorhome trip is made of stages and nights. Knowing only arrival times means half the trip is planned.
The bill looks different
Twelve litres per hundred kilometres, vignettes in six countries, special tolls at tunnels and passes. It adds up before the first pitch is paid for.

How it works

  1. Set your stops

Search for a place, tap the map or drag a marker. The route follows immediately and can be reordered at any time.

  2. Enter vehicle and driving time

Height, width, length, weight, plus the driving time you are willing to do in a day. Both change the route and the trip plan.

  3. Take it with you and set off

Export the route as GPX and load it onto your sat nav. With an account the plan sits under “My routes” and is there on every device; without an account it stays reachable under a save code until it has gone unopened for six months.

Your dimensions go into the route. And, if you like, through the check.

Motorhomes do not drive like cars. Camperada calculates the route with your dimensions: roads where OpenStreetMap records a lower height, width, length or weight limit stay closed. If that ever fails, it says so beneath the route. At the push of a button, Camperada also checks the finished route, and whatever argues against it appears as a warning on the map, not in the small print.

How the routing handles itRoute planner for motorhomes over 3.5 t

Kilometres become travel days

You say how long you want to drive each day, how many nights you stay where, and when you set off. Camperada turns that into a dated trip plan: arrival day per stop, total duration, and wherever a drive takes longer than your day allows, a scheduled night on the way with its position on the map. One click finds the sites for it and turns that night into a stop in the right place.

More on stage planning
  • Departure date

Every stop gets its calendar day, not just a number.

  • Driving hours per day

Between two and twelve hours. The plan recalculates immediately.

  • Avoid on route

Deselect motorways, toll roads or ferries. Ferries on the route are listed.

  • Nights on the way

Stages that run too long get an overnight stop, with sites nearby.

Places to stay where you need them

As you zoom in, Camperada loads campsites and motorhome stopovers from OpenStreetMap into the map view, with website, facilities and address. One click turns any site into your stop's overnight stay, or inserts it into the route where it costs the smallest detour. Reviews and photos are better handled by the site communities. Where camping.info, Eurocampings or PiNCAMP lists a site as bookable, its site card carries a labelled partner link to the booking.

What the tour costs

Fuel costs from consumption, tank size and the prices of the countries you cross, with refuelling stops on the map. Plus vignettes and distance-based tolls for the planned route.

Fixed amount
Vignettes for six countries and the Austrian special toll sections.
As a range
Distance-based tolls in Italy, France and Croatia. A single figure would be a guess; a range is honest.
Hired
Daily rate and flat fees from your quote, with the deposit kept separate. Plus your route checked against the mileage package, and before you book, the question that comes first: how large it needs to be.

At the border you already know what applies

Speed, lights, alcohol, required equipment: every border brings different rules, and for motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes often different ones again. Camperada puts a fact sheet for the country at every border on your route, for 17 countries and with a source for every figure.

With “Rules on the road” on the map you see where your route passes through a low emission zone, and what to get beforehand goes on your checklist: sticker, registration, warning sign, winter equipment, each from the official source.

Your route belongs to you

Export as GPX 1.1, the format read by sat navs and apps from Garmin to OsmAnd. No subscription, no tie to this site.

New, in beta

The conversion planner for your van

For anyone building out their own van: enter your vehicle's dimensions and place bed, kitchen, bathroom and storage to the millimetre. Collisions and covered wheel arches show up straight away, before you cut anything.

This is a beta: the conversion planner works, but it is still being built and some things are missing. Dimensions and weights are guide values. Layouts are saved to your Camperada account and are then available on every device; without an account you can try it out, but nothing is kept. For now the conversion planner is in German only.

Try the conversion planner
  • Four views

Top view, both sides and cross-section, each full size on its own or three together at the same scale.

  • To the millimetre

Furniture snaps to edges, gaps and dimensions appear right in the drawing.

  • Payload and axle loads

Every piece of furniture carries its weight, and the status bar checks it against your vehicle data.

  • PNG export

Any view as an image, to share or to take to the workshop.

Planned

Where this is heading

This is planned but not built yet. It appears here once it works, not before.

  1. Daily fuel prices

For now, Camperada calculates with the European Commission's weekly national averages.

Frequently asked questions

What does Camperada cost?

Nothing. Camperada is free to use, with no premium tier, no ad banners and no selling of data. Where you can book a site directly on camping.info, Eurocampings or PiNCAMP, the link is labelled as a partner link: if you book through it, Camperada earns a commission.

Do I need an account to plan a route?

No. The planner works from the first click. Saving happens through a save code, which reopens your plan on any device. Without an account, the plan is kept until it has gone unopened for six months. A free account is optional and gathers routes and vehicles in one place.

I don't have a motorhome yet. Can I still plan?

Yes, and that is exactly what the planner is built for. If you do not know your dimensions yet, you take them from a vehicle class, from camper van to A-class; all of them sit at 3.5 tonnes or below. Camperada also works your hire costs in from your quote and tells you before you book how large your mileage package should be: your route's distance plus a stated allowance for detours.

Does the route account for my motorhome's dimensions?

Yes. Height, width, length and weight feed into the route calculation: roads with a restriction below them recorded in OpenStreetMap stay closed, and above 3.5 tonnes so do recorded lorry bans. At the push of a button, Camperada also checks the finished route against height, width and weight limits from OpenStreetMap and marks tight spots on the map. Beneath every route it says whether your dimensions could be applied.

Which countries does the toll calculation cover?

Vignettes are held for Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary, along with Austrian special toll sections such as the Brenner, Tauern and Karawanken tunnel. For Italy, France and Croatia, Camperada estimates the distance-based toll as a range. Where no dependable tariffs exist, you get a note instead of a number.

Does Camperada know which traffic rules apply abroad?

For 17 countries, yes. At every border on your route there is a short fact sheet for your vehicle: the speed limit for your weight class, daytime lights, the alcohol limit, required equipment and, where they affect your trip, winter equipment and low emission zones, plus the date the sources were last checked. Both weight classes and the source of every figure are on the country page. On the road, the signs still have the final say.

How does the route get onto my sat nav?

Through the GPX export. Camperada writes GPX 1.1 with waypoints and track. The format is read by Garmin devices and phone apps such as OsmAnd; with built-in navigation systems it depends on the model.

Does Camperada work on a phone while travelling?

Yes. The interface adapts to small screens, and the planning panel becomes a drawer you pull up from the bottom edge. For iPhone, iPad and Android there is also a free Camperada app on the App Store and Google Play. An internet connection is required.
